5month old naps

Hi FTM mum to a just over 5 month old. I am very blessed that he is an amazing sleeper at night can sleep 12hrs no wake ups and can fall asleep independently for bed/naps. He had never been a good day time sleeper and a serial cat napper but no I am very lucky he sleeps wel at night and you carnt have it all haha. I am finding his naps seem to be getting shorter and shorter longest he would do is 45mins but last 2 weeks he will not sleep for longer then 30mins. He currently has 4x 30 min naps a day. Majority of the time he will wake up happy, his wake windows are all over the place sometimes he can be awake for 1hr30 before needing a nap other times 2hrs. I have been playing around with his wake windows and for the last two days and stretching them to two hours to see if that would make a difference in length but it hasn’t. He seemed happy enough to be awake for that amount of time but today he needed to nap after 1hr20mins. So my question is there anyway I can extend these naps? Or will this just be somthing that will happen naturally.

My DD was like this.

I think as they sleep so well at night they need less sleep in the day. 45 min naps are normal if they are having 4 of them.

My 5mo is also doing this! Mostly 30-minute naps, sometimes a longer 1.5h one but mostly not. It seems to be quite random and I’m not sure I affect his nap lengths at all, though sometimes I can extend them if I get a boob in quickly when he wakes. His wake windows have also started varying a lot, from 1.5 to 3+ hours.

Nice to know I am not alone! Yes my LO wake windows are now all over the place also ranging from 1.5-2.5 although by 2.5 he is very grumpy. I carnt seem to extend naps at all weather that’s contact or pram his number the clock 30mins.

The point of naps is to make sure they're not overtired by bedtime which might affect night sleep so it looks like you've got a good sleeper. No need to worry. I'll swap you with my child if you like? She's 15 months and wakes for 2-3 hours between 2-3am and if she sleeps through it's only until 4:30.
