Sleeping with dummy 7mo

Hi all,

My 7mo has been sleeping in her own room/cot for the last month and constantly wakes throughout the night, but only for her dummy.

As soon as I go in and give her back the dummy she usually goes straight back to sleep without any shushing, rocking etc.

But the last couple of nights she has been really unsettled and a couple of times when I have gone in, I’ve had to rock her back to sleep.

Im reading up about sleep training and considering it but wondered if anyone had any advice of how to do this with or without the dummy as I’m struggling to find info on the internet!

thanks in advance!

Has she got teeth or unwell at all?
Might just be a developmental leap she is going through, it all sounds very normal.

Sleep training is really not necessary; it doesn't actually train sleep (sleep is a biological function and developmental, no training required). Sleep training that involves crying it out just means they stop crying because they realise you aren't coming to comfort them, so they stop calling for help.

At 7mo she is still so little and still totally normal for her to need comfort throughout the night. My 10mo still wakes a few times but she is sleeping easier now. I know it's so hard and tiring. Hang in there.

Some accounts you can check out are Lyndsey Hookway and Resting in Motherhood on Instagram, both normalising normal infant sleep!
