When do your kids wake up if they go to sleep at 6/6.30pm?

Just that really.

Please say your child's age in your responses.

Trying to determine a routine for my 2 year old that is transitioning to no naps.

7.30pm. My kid loves his sleep!

We’ve just cut DS 20mo nap time from 2 hours to 1 as he was taking ages to get to sleep and then waking in the middle of the night.
Bed at 7ish, asleep within 30 minutes. Awake at 630ish. He’s always slept well, but not for very long. I’d say he gets about 11 hours overnight.
Is your LO feeling better?

wibblewobbleball · 31/03/2023 07:13

My nearly 3 year old wakes at around 6am if she goes to bed at 6.30pm. It took a couple of months though to get there and a lot of 5am starts Confused

granddadtumble · 31/03/2023 07:18

She's fine! I reckon it was just due to overeating.

She woke at 6.45am in a relatively good mood despite the awful night.

She was up nearly every hour between midnight at 5am.

Hoping she does an early nap today and I'll cap it so bedtime isn't too late!

DD is 4 now but at 2 has was still doing 11ish hours so down at 6:30pm meant up at 5:30am, no thanks. She actually went to sleep at 8:30pm and now she only needs 10 hours it's more like 9-9:30, not much evening time for the adults but at least I'm not dragged out of bed at cocks crow.

granddadtumble · 31/03/2023 08:23

@olderthanyouthink I wouldn't mind the late bedtime but it takes a minimum of 40 mins to get her to sleep if she's had a nap that day, unless I take her upstairs at something stupid like 11pm.

I'm on MAT leave atm, so she can wake as late as she likes but when I return to work 7am is the latest she can get away with waking up so we can do nursery drop offs.

My kid is five and he has never ever gone to bed this early.

LittleMrsPerfect · 31/03/2023 19:40

18 month old sleeps 12 hours ish from when I put her down, I get home from work at 6 and dh at 7. So she goes to bed at 8/9ish. Can’t cope with 6:30 wake ups on my days off.

how do you get kids to bed for 6 - do you not work?

MintMa · 31/03/2023 19:51

Mines 8 but has had pretty much the same routine since 1.5 ish - bed at 12/1 up at 5/6. If they went at 6.30 they'd be up before midnight ( they do take meltonin which helps them for that long) on breaks from melatonin, they don't sleep at all. The longest currently is around 80 hrs with no sleep. We take shifts.

granddadtumble · 31/03/2023 20:12

@LittleMrsPerfect I'm on MAT leave right now for my youngest, but I finish around 4 anyway so can get home and kids to bed by 6/6.30.

DD has dinner at nursery and a snack when she comes home. She also has milk before bed so don't need to worry about feeding her.

I'd take the 6.30 wake up on weekends if it meant she went to bed earlier and slept through!

2yo goes to bed 6 and wakes up at 530am. If he has a short nap during day he will go to sleep roughly same time but wakes more like 6/630am. 6yo 630/7 bedtime and wakes up 530/6ish.

Honoraryuce · 31/03/2023 20:16

It is tricky with mine though as one of us is up for work 530ish most mornings and that often wakes everyone else as it's small house.

staybyyou · 31/03/2023 20:17

@Mallowmarshmallow until I read your comment I was getting all panicky, mine has also never woken up later than 6am! Apart from a handful of times when he's been poorly. One minute past 6 and we know he's ill Confused Always in bed between 6.30-7.30pm as a later bedtime makes sod all difference to the time he wakes!!

Matilda1981 · 31/03/2023 20:21

Mine used to go to bed before 6pm some nights when they were going from one nap to no naps! Still woke up around 7/7.30 am!

Flittingaboutagain · 31/03/2023 20:25

So interesting. My 20m old goes to sleep about 8 and is up at 6 with two hour nap in the day.
