Toddler won't sleep with us

Does anyone else's little one refuse to sleep with them? Our son (2.5yrs) will never sleep in with us, it doesn't matter how tired he is, he will not sleep in our bed - never has!

I know this may not sound like an issue to many and a lot of people have to opposite problem but it makes life really really difficult if he wakes up in the night and won't settle again or if he is ill.

It also means that we can no longer go away anywhere as he can climb out of his travel cot now so we effectively have nowhere that he will sleep! We have lots of family away from us and can't see them now because of this.

Has anyone else had this problem?

My middle child is like this she's now 3. I put her in a toddler bed at 18 months and stopped using a travel cot then aswell. Shes a climber. We travel alot yo see family and she just sleeps in her own bed. When she wakes up I'm sometimes permitted to sit next to her wile she goes back to sleep or she tells me to go away 🤣

My kids are the same!

The youngest just turned 2 and has been out of a cot for 6 months thanks to his climbing (his sister was in a cot until 3 so this was new territory). When we go away sleeps in a bed, same as at home. The last place we stayed handily provided a bed guard, but we’ve also stuck a pile of pillows on the floor before, just in case. You can also get little toddler sized air beds for travel (search Amazon). If it’s somewhere unfamiliar we just sit in the room the first night to stop any exploration or escape attempts until he falls asleep. Then thankfully once he’s off he’s off and (touch wood) doesn’t wake overnight- that must be hard for you.
