Baby will only sleep in a Moses basket, but he’s getting too big!

Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone has any thoughts on this issue.

My DS is 14 weeks and very soon he’ll be too big for his Moses basket. Trouble is, it’s the only thing he’ll sleep in 😩

We also have a next to me crib, which I keep trying him in but he hates it. The next to me would see him through until he transfers to a cot because it’s a bit longer. But he seems to hate how wide it is and prefers the snugness of the Moses basket. When I try him in the Next to Me he startles, fidgets and wiggles around like a worm, and within half an hour he’s fully awake & crying again.

I've considered swaddling in the Next to Me, but I’ve read it’s not good to suddenly introduce swaddling at 3 months (ie it should have been from birth).

Thanks yes that’s a good suggestion. Ours is sleep safe, the only issue being ideally I’d like a stand to save my poor back 😄

The compatible stands look to be around £150 which I’m not willing to fork out, and none on eBay/Marketplace etc. Will have to keep thinking …

Can he spend more time in there in the day, when awake to get him use to the smell / environment / feel etc?

Does the Moses basket for inside the crib? You could try letting him sleep in it inside the crib a couple of times, before you remove the basket?

Maybe you could add a sleepsack (with arms out) while he's still in the basket, and then keep using it when the basket goes, so that something stays the same for him.

Is the cot in a draft? I know bumpers aren’t recommended but could you try moving the cot?

Put the Moses basket inside the cot. Let him get used to a gradual change.

Hi I am having the same problem and wondered what worked for you? Everytime I put my wee girl in the cot she just startles and cries. Seems to like being able to touch Moses basket.
