Night weaning

hi all,

FTM to a 6 month old over here, so all is new to me! I was wondering if anyone had any advice please 🙏🏻

My 6 month old is a good sleeper, can put himself to sleep and sleeps for long stretches 7 until anywhere between 3-5am. However, over the past few weeks he has started pooping in the early hours of the morning eg 4/5am which he hasn’t done since the newborn phase. I have also noticed that when he wakes at these hours he doesn’t cry out for me, he isn’t upset, sometimes he just lies there looking. Now I normally go in, change his bum, feed him (bottle fed) and put him down but recently he’s been having a hard time getting back to sleep and I’m wondering if A) the bum change is waking him too much and B) if he doesn’t really need the feed anymore but expects it out of habit.

of course I want to change his bum if he has pooped but I’m unsure if getting into a habit has made him think this is morning when it isn’t? He also takes the bottle even if he’s had his full feeds in the day and a good amount of ounces of milk.

I just want to note I don’t mind feeding him in the night, it’s just proving s bit tricky when he wakes at 5am and then struggles to go back to sleep. He does go to sleep eventually which makes me think he isn’t done with his might sleep.

should I try night weaning? Did this work for anyone else?
