@fatedestiny - two wake ups

Hi there

I saw some other people mention you on their threads and wondered if you can help or reassure! I have a 4.5 month old who wakes twice a night and I don't know if he's hungry. He takes a full feed at the first and a snack at the second feed (4/5am). Generally goes down again until 7 but won't unless fed. The first feed is ALWAYS 5 hours 50 after he goes to sleep and it hasn't moved for over 8 weeks. I'm wondering if he's in habits.

If I sound desperate or like I want for more it's because I have chronic fatigue syndrome and I'm fading fast!

Other things to know: he uses a dummy to get to sleep. 80% of the time at bedtime he settled with dummy in his cot.

Naps - needs dummy and won't settle in cot. First nap is 9-10. Second 12-2.15 (needs resettling sometimes, sometimes can link a sleep cycle). Third 4.15-4.45 (we wake him).

This is very good sleeping for a 4.5mo!

Is it! I'm so tired Blush

Sounds pretty good for a 4.5 month old! My DD sleep was similar, she dropped the 1st night feed around 6 months and slept through until 4/5am and kept that feed until 10 months I think.

That's so interesting! Did she just stop needing the 1am feed? Or did it get later and later?

@mynannygoat7 yup, just slept through until 5am one night and never woke again for it. But all babies are different. She’s almost 3 now and wakes more now than she did as a baby (for a variety of bizarre reasons) 😂

That's really really good sleeping for that age. Many people won't even be getting 2 hour stretches at this stage. My second didn't manage a 5 hour stretch until she was nearly 2. I wouldn't mess with anything in case it upsets the lovely routine you have going tbh.

This is exceptionally good for 4.5 months! On Lyndsey Hookway’s account she recently shared a statistic that only 6% of 6 month olds sleep longer than 6 hours more than 3 times a week, so if yours is doing 5hr50 consistently then that’s like a miracle baby territory! 😅 It’s completely normal for babies to feed at night for the first year, and it’s not recommended to night wean until 12 months (at least for breastfed babies)
