11 month old night bottles?

So we’ve had a bit of a telling off by HV 😏
DS usually falls asleep on us and we take him to bed, and he sleeps ok but still wakes up for his night bottle. HV says he needs to learn to fall asleep on his own and he doesn’t need the night feed.

Putting him in his cot was no trouble he fell asleep by himself, but getting him off that night bottle is so hard. He won’t take water or fall back asleep with any comforting. We eventually gave in after 3 hours with a bottle.

I know I am probably making it worse by giving in but we just don’t know what to do after so long of him crying and having tried everything else. DH also has the opinion that DS “really is hungry” but not sure I agree! Any tips or reassurance that it stops eventually? Or did you try this when they were older and it was better?
