Pre 6am wake ups

I would love to go back to my LO waking at 6.30 (or 7). Right now it's 5.45 and it's getting earlier and earlier.

11m old. On one nap which is 1pm ish. Varies between 45 mins and 80 mins. Hard to keep him up on such little sleep of course so bedtime js 6.45pm latest. He is sleeping through so I know I should be thankful but I would love to push everything back by 30 mins and don't know how to.

Any ideas? I am wondering if the clocks changing can help me...? Thank you

It might just be a normal phase that you have to ride out, although 11m strikes me as young to be down to one nap early (although kids do have vastly different sleep needs), so is there any chance he could be overtired? That can actually lead to early wakes. It doesn't sound like he's getting much day sleep. It could be that he actually doesn't need it but it could also be that he needs more day sleep split across two naps (if he's only napping for 45-80 mins with one) to catch up.

Did you cut a morning nap or dod he just start dropping to the afternoon nap? That’s a hell of a long stretch for an 11month old to go after waking so early. What would he do if you offered him a morning nap at 9:30-10 or so?

It was taking him SO long to go down for his morning nap so I dropped it in the hope that it would make his lunchtime nap longer and having done some reading. It's only been a week and he seems totally fine - not at all grumpy. Fell asleep once in his buggy briefly in the morning. I also wondered if I was getting the early wake ups because he was getting too much day time sleep hence dropping the first nap. But yes it is too long to go without a nap. If I could get him to wake at 7am, I feel going from then to 1pm is reasonable. But don't know how to make this shift...

7 hour awake window is insanely long for an 11 month old. Mine has transitioned to one nap at 12 months but if she gets up early I do main nap at 11 until 1? Then I have to force a little top up at around 4ish for 15 mins just to see her through

I reckon if yiu started his nap earlier then he may nap longer? He might need resettling. There's an optimum amountvof tired to sleep longer and Ibthink 1 is very late for hus nap if he's been up since pre-6.

However I think 11hrs straight overnight is a lot of sleep and I would be reticent about adjusting naps at the risk of losing the amazing night sleep. Especially as you say he isn't unhappy during the day.

I think as he gets older he'll be able to stay awake longer in the afternoon and go to bed later and his pattern will shift. Personally I would wait it out.

Sorry for the awful typos. Ds is jumping all over me

I think try shifting that nap earlier. The morning nap is one people are very quick to drop but that nap is very restorative, and essentially that’s the one you want to keep because it can get pushed later and later until you have the middle of day nap.
