15 month old never slept through

Help! We have a 15 month old that has never slept through the night. He wakes up at least once in the night if not more 2/3 times.
He is still having milk (whole cows milk) before bed and then we are giving it to him through the night as well.
He eats 3 meals a day with 2 snacks, will nap once in the day for roughly 1-2 hours.
My eldest was sleeping though from 4 months so I have just kept telling myself that it is going to happen but it doesn't seem to be!
Any advise?

When he ready. He sounds like the vast majority of toddlers.

No advice sorry, it’s really bloody hard when they don’t sleep. DD is nearly 5 and has only slept through a handful of times…..

Igotjelly · 13/02/2023 12:55

My older DD slept through from about 3 months, they’re all just different I guess.

I'm pretty sure it's super common and very typical for kids to not sleep through until closer to 2 years. Only one wake up is good!

GinnyBee · 13/02/2023 14:51

Oh, my sleep deprived brain was reading that wrong! Nevertheless, even 2-3 wakes is really normal!

Personally I would stop giving him milk at night and try to get him back to sleep in other ways (cuddling, shushing etc).

Eldest ds slept through from 4 months, youngest not until they were much much older. I suspect it was my punishment for being a smug first time mum who had a baby that slept!!!!!!

At about that age, I offered water instead of milk. There were a few bad nights, but then she slept through consistently.

LT2 · 13/02/2023 21:30

My nearly-13 month old wakes every 2 hours.

You have to stop the milk through the night. Dr Jay Gordon nightweaning method is gentle and it works. As soon as I stopped night time milk my terrible sleeper slept through (at 15 months too)

Thanks everyone.
I think we may try to stop the milk and just go for the water. To see if that make any difference! I honestly thought that he would be an outlier and it was normal for them to be sleeping through at this time but clearly not!
Feel for you all in the torture that is sleep deprivation!!
