6 month sleep woes

My 6.5 month old has become a different baby in the last few days, we’ve moved him into his own room in his cot. We’ve spent some time in there playing in the daylight, and a few naps here and there, before transitioning him over so he knows the space.
Every time I put him down for a sleep either nap or night sleep, following his wake windows which are normally 2-2.5h, he just plays and rolls around in his cot for up to an hour - though he seems happy most of the time (a bit whingy) but he’s definitely tired!
This afternoon he refused his early afternoon nap and stayed awake for just over 4 hours before finally conking out on me.
Do I need to extend his wake windows? As if I do that i dont think we will get 3 naps in during the day… I thought babies often dropped to 2 naps a bit later than this age?
I may have tried to run before I can walk, moving him into his own room and trying to go cold turkey on contact naps all in a few days… he’s usually such a good sleeper that this is really getting me down as he’s like a different baby.
I am just getting so frustrated that I’m not doing enough - even though I know that’s not the case, he is interacted with and played with constantly when he’s awake, he’s fed and changed so he’s not hungry when he naps. Is there anything I can be doing?

My eldest did two naps a day from 6 or 7 months so it's possible. They are all different!

Rather than go cold turkey on contact nap, can you cuddle til drowsy then put him down? And have you provided an alternative comforter like a blanket or cuddly toy?

Routine 6-7 months old
7am wake and milk feed
8.30am breakfast
9.15-10am nap
11am lunch
12 noon milk feed
12.30-2.30 or 3 nap
5pm supper
6pm bath
6.30pm milk feed and bed

drop the 3rd nap and go for an early bedtime

Yes we’ve got a comforter teddy thing but he doesn’t seem bothered by it at the moment. I have cuddled til he’s sleepy at night but it doesn’t work as well for naps.

I’ve been so lax and weaning and he’s still on 1 meal a day for the moment, i probably need to up the meals too but it feels like too much change too quickly!
