Navigating 2 to 1 nap transition (11mo)

This feels a little early but DS has always been on the lower end of the sleep needs scale, and it feels as though we've been transitioning for a few weeks now. I try to follow his cues where I can, but it's not obvious when he's sleepy during the day as he's a very active baby with no off switch 🙃 naps are usually in the pram for this reason.

Wake time is usually between 6:30 and 7:30. Bedtime really depends on whether he's had 1 or 2 naps, and when his last nap ended, as he generally needs a4 hours wake time before bed.

On a good 2 nap days he'll have an hour nap around 10:30am, then another 30 mins around 3:30pm and bedtime around 8:30pm. But on a bad day he might fight his 2nd nap until closer to 5pm, which means bedtime isn't until 9:30pm. And he's still waking up between 6:30pm and 7:30pm so getting less sleep overall on these days.

On a good 1 nap day he'll have a 2 hour nap around 11:30pm and bedtime around 7pm. On a bad day his nap will either be at the same time but shorter, or he'll have a morning nap at 10:30am and skip the afternoon nap altogether. This is the worst scenario as it means he can be awake for anything up to 8.5 hours.

I guess I'm struggling with the lack of predictability, and wondering whether I keep persevering with 2 naps or 1.

Anybody able to advise?
