Is white noise good or bad for kids?

Hello mums, I hope you're all keeping well! I wanted to reach out and ask a more serious question about white noise for kids. I recently stumbled upon a video on YouTube that's been working wonders for getting my little one to sleep, and I just wanted to check if any of you have used this as well.

I am concerned about the possible long-term effects it might have on my baby, so I would greatly appreciate your input. The video is by the channel 'Relaxing Ambience Sounds & White Noise', and it features a black screen, making it suitable for placing near the crib or in the stroller without disturbing the baby.

Here's the link to the video, just in case you'd like to take a look:

Thank you so much for your time, mums. I really appreciate your input on this matter.

I doubt there's any bad effects from white noise, unless you are playing it unreasonably loud right next to their little ears.

We have a tommee tippee percy penguin which plays white noise, we use it every night for our little one.
Surely they wouldnt be sold if they were harmful.

We use it every night for toddler (and us!!!). Our toddler has a £20 white noise plug in thing that plays all night. I can't see why there'd be any long term problems. It's helpful because it drowns out noise in the house, ie we don't have to creep around when she's in bed.
To be honest we can't sleep without it on in our room now lol!

I don’t think it’s that great to be honest. We went from white to brown to wave noises whilst she was drifting off which I do think help, but I know myself I hate loud noise all night, I don’t sleep well.

Now at 1.5 we do a routine of story, cuddle, mobile sound (same every night) but turn it off once she’s asleep, and sometimes it’s evident she wants silence.

Realistically you know your child. Do they like noise or quiet …my child likes me to be near but not touching, and quiet sound for 3-5 mins and then silence

We used white noise from a couple of weeks old until we were away for a few days (when he was nearly 3) and forgot to bring the machine - DC slept fine without, so we just stopped using it from that point on.

I am more aware of making noise upstairs in the house now though. It used to drown everything out.

We have used white noise religiously with our 10 month old..for all naps and overnight. It was one if tye few things that worked in the early days.
I haven't really tried without it for a long time so don't know what would happen without it!. But we live in a seriously creaky house so I kind of rely on it to drown that out.
Actually got so used to having it on when he was in our bedroom that now I like to sleep with it myself!
Just use white noise apps on phone at a reasonable level on floor next to the cot.

We used it with both of ours. Worked for us in getting them asleep! Also as PP said, drowns out other noise until they're in a deep enough sleep.
