my DS is 26 months and for the last 2 months he just won’t go to sleep and is waking during the night. He sleeps in a toddler cotbed with duvet and pillow and has a comfort teddy and dummy for sleeping.
He will get into bed no problem for story and a cuddle and will even say “mummy turn the light off” and then I will switch on his white noise and turn the light off. The second I leave the room or even get near the door, he breaks his heart. Me and DH now have to sit next to him and stroke, pat/cuddle to sleep which can sometimes take up to an hour. then when he finally goes to sleep, he is waking up very upset crying during the night and we go in to settle him but sometimes we’re so tired that we bring him into our bed. Often when we go through and give him a little cuddle to settle him, he is pointing to the door to come into our room.
I’m just a bit lost with where to go with this! He’s never been a perfect sleeper but he’s always given us good stints of sleeping through until now. Is he too old to sleep train again?
some advise would be extremely welcomed - from a very tired mother!
