8 month sleep regression 😢

Any suggestions please...DS has gone from 7.30 - 5.30 most nights with no wake ups (ages 5 months to 6.5 months) to 7pm - to 4am with at least 2 wake ups since he was 6.5 months. We thought it was teething but it has now gone on for a while (he is 8 months).

Current schedule is:
7am milk
8am breakfast
9.30 - 10.30 nap
11 milk
12 lunch
1 - 3 nap
3.30 milk
5 dinner
6.20 milk
Usually in bed by 6.30

He almost always wakes up at 10/11pm ready to play and refuses to be put back down. Again at 2am and isn't easily resettled with a bottle, then is up for the day at latest 4.30am

We tried controlled crying but he just stood up in his cot and cried for hours on end (and doesn't know how to sit back down).

Any suggestions would be helpful, we are both back at work full-time (although I work from home) so end up with not very much sleep ourselves 😭

3 hours is the absolute maximum a baby should sleep in the day at this age. Your baby doesn't need that much sleep. 3 + 12 = 15 hours. The websites say this is the top end. Hardly any 8 month old needs 15 hours a day. Cut naps to 2 hours if sleeping 12 hours at night. My baby sleeps 10 hours a night and I has to cap naps to 2 hours 15 in day at 8 months otherwise we would have split nights.

Thanks, I'll cut them down tomorrow and see if it helps. Are the nap times okay or do I need to change these?

It won't work overnight. You need to try new thing for 1-2 weeks. Nap times seem fine

If my 10mo was put to bed at 6:30pm he would probably be waking up at 4:30am too. That's 10 hours of overnight sleep, which is plenty for a lot of babies.

I would try a later bedtime (adjusting naps and wake times as needed). It will probably take a couple of weeks to notice a difference.
