Cat naps

Hi FTM mum here of a beautiful baby boy 9 weeks. My question is are cat naps normal? I am very blessed he sleeps well at night usually goes down between 7/8 and won’t wake till 3ish sometimes even 5am and will then go back down till around 7/8am. His never been a good sleeper in the day he has reflux but we now have that in check and is a much happier baby I thought the bad sleeping in the day was down to this but seems not… I think the issue is he cannot link his sleep cycles as will wake every 30/45mins I do my best to rock him back off when he stirs which is sometimes success but as of recent he will just not go back down I have even resorted back to baby wearing last few days as he use to always have a good stint in there but he will only last a hour these last few days even in the pram! I follow wake windows and sleepy cues which is usually about a hour of awake time. I am worried he isn’t getting enough sleep and it’s effecting his nighttime sleep as last week it’s taken us over a hour to settle him back to sleep we put him down he will sleep for 30 mins and then wake up and takes us about a hour on and off rocking once his asleep for the night he is brilliant only wakes for a feed and I can even put him down awake/drowsy in a night and he will put himself to sleep which is confusing because he can link his sleep cycles and almost self sooth but carnt do this in the day? He is otherwise a happy smiley baby. So do
some baby’s just cat nap in the day or wil he grow out of this just worried he isn’t getting enough sleep in a 24 hour period. Just you read online and in books baby’s should sleep for 1/2 hours at some points in the day and mine just doesn’t haha I’m I over thinking things.

Yes, cat naps are very normal at this age. It usually gets better around 6 months (from my experience) when they learn to connect sleep cycles.

My DD cat napped unless held or in sling for most of her first year. She started linking doing longer naps somewhere between 6-12 months.

Totally normal, my little boy has only started reliably napping longer than 30 mins in the last month or so at 10.5 months old ☺️
