What does your baby nap in during the day?

My little boy is 5 weeks old and sleeps at night in a next to me crib. He goes down really well in this (at the moment anyway), I'll pop him in and within 5-10 minutes he's asleep.

He was previously napping well in the pram downstairs in the day but lately will wake and cry as soon as he's put down, even if he's been deeply asleep on me for a while after a feed. He has white noise upstairs at night so I've started using this downstairs as well but it's hit and miss.

What other options are there for daytime naps downstairs in terms of what he could sleep in? I love doing some contact naps but sometimes I do need to be able to do other things while he sleeps. I don't really want to put him upstairs in the next to me for all naps because he still needs to be sleeping in the same room as me and I don't want to be stuck in the bedroom. I have taken him upstairs for naps in the past and he's gone to sleep really easily, so it seems to be location rather than daytime vs nighttime that is the difference.

I know this isn’t what you’re looking for but mine pretty much only does contact naps. Either in the carrier while I walk the dog too, or I settle for a slump on the sofa with him. He’s almost 8 months! He can also nap in the pram when we’re out and then I park him outside in the garden if he keeps on sleeping when we get home.

At 5 weeks:

  • Pram, either out walking, or after being pushed to sleep in it back and forth in the hallway with lullaby music playing.
  • In the Baby Bjorn carrier on DH, or the sling on me, after being walked around in it either inside or outside the house.
  • Carseat during/after a drive (obviously not long periods).
  • Rarely - next to me crib or on the floor on top of blankets on the rug. Both after being put down in a deep sleep. Or bouncy chair after being bounced to sleep.

But most common of all - on me or DH. Usually on me after a breastfeed. It gets easier eventually and you get adept at doing things one handed.

We've got a sleepyhead deluxe which is like a cosy little nest we just put on the sofa, only for supervised naps though obviously

Purflo nest

We have a nest pod thing which is great for when they are smaller.

Wherever she fell asleep at that age. Sometimes it was on me, sometimes in the car, buggy, bouncy chair, sling.

We had a Moses basket downstairs for daytime naps.

Will have a look at nest options as he could be on the sofa next to me so I'd be right with him.

That said, I've just swaddled him for the first time and it was like magic! He's asleep in the pram. I've never done it before because he has always seemed to dislike having his hands covered, even the day he was born. He grumped a bit about being wrapped then literally closed his eyes seconds after being popped in the pram.
