Sleep apnoea? Arching backwards and crying

My 6 month baby has been sick with tonsillitis. Sleep has been awful. Even If I hold her to sleep She keeps jerking her body and arching her back backwards in her sleep and crying. She doesn't seem able to sleep more than 10 mins before she starts arching back and crying. Could this be sleep apnea or shall I just chalk it up to just bad sleep and restlessness? Not sure what is going on. She doesn't sleep independently yet , she is always fed or rocked to sleep. Thank you for any answers

My baby does this. I think it’s nightmares. Especially if your babe has been sick and in pain. Also teething? Worth asking your doctor if you are worried.

Does she stop breathing for more than 20seconds?
Does she snore?
Will she gasp for breath after a period of apnoea?

Restlessness and arching back to open airway can indicate airway obstruction but lots of other things to rule out first. Apnoea is pausing in breathing- pretty easy to diagnose.

Tonsillitis can be very, very painful. Tonsils can remain swollen for some time after which causes discomfort but not necessarily swollen enough to block an airway. Are you still giving pain relief? Ibuprofen is way more effect for tonsil pain than paracetamol.
