So my twins were going to bed around 9.30pm they would wake once in the night for milk and then back to sleep until 6.30am earliest. But they started getting really ratty in the evenings so i moved their bedtime to 8.30pm they go down brilliantly but now they are tossing and turning loads and waking up wide awake at all times of the night and morning. It's only been 2 nights but wondering whether I should go back to 9.30 bedtime and deal with them being ratty in the evening or persevere for a while? How long does it take for babies routines to settle down? What are people's opinions? What has worked for you?
Thanks xx

How old are they? Do they nap?

Infertilitywarrior · 10/12/2022 13:02

They are 5 months. They nap 3 or 4 times a day usually for up to an hour but usually 45 mins
I make sure I keep them awake for 2 hours before bed

The change of bed time could be coincidence, there’s loads of growth spurts that interrupt sleep. Have you tried going back to the old routine?

@glasshalfsomething I'm scared to go back to the old bedtime in case I mess it up more 🙈 how long do you think it would take for the new 8.30 bedtime to settle down or do you just think go back to the 9.30 and let them be a bit cranky for the last part of the evening. The 8.30 bedtime works better for crankiness in the evening but the 9.30 bedtime is defo better for sleep 🤣 I was kinda hoping someone would say the 8.30 bedtime will eventually be better 🤣

I’m no use for advice really. my twins only started sleeping through at 18 months and then we’re still on 5.30am wakes.

only at nearly 2 are they doing 7pm to 6.45pm

yours are so young though I’d stick with the new time and how it a few weeks; make sure they’re warm enough and sure they’ll catch on!

@glasshalfsomething oh god that doesn't fill me with much hope 🤣🙈 glad yours are sleeping through now though
Yep I've got them in long sleeve vest, sleepsuit and sleeping bag and they seem to be quite a good temp so I'm hoping it's just a bit up in the air because I've changed what they're used to and it will settle down again, i need some sleep, some days I can't even think straight 🤣 x
