What do you do with an inconsistent baby

Hello,
My DD is 10 months and is VERY inconsistent with her sleep. Most of the time she goes down ok and falls asleep completely on her own but once or twice a week we have a nightmare bedtime when she cries on and off for up to a hour. She's also inconsistent during the night. She sleeps through once or twice a week but most nights wakes 1-3 times. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is this normal? I've done gentle gradual sleep training with her to get to this point but don't know what else to do now, as she can self settle most of the time.

I know lots have it far worse but I'm finding the unpredictability really difficult. Any advice much appreciated!

Just to add, when I said she cries on and off for an hour, I don't just leave her, I pop in and out and pick her up if she's really distressed. She normally stops crying as soon as picked up but starts again when put down

This too will pass.

All 3 of mine were nightmares for sleeping. All 3 now reliably sleep through the night.

It took years, not months and, by the time the youngest was reliably sleeping though I think I hadn’t had a full nights sleep for 8 years but it really really does end, and they will get there by themselves.

it’s brutal though Flowers

Enjoy the two nights a week that she sleeps through
