I haven't slept for 10 months... HELP!!

I have a ten month old boy who cries every 30 minutes at night. He was poorly for the first 5 months; had to be woken every 2 hours but I still got 1.5 hours sleep here and there. At 5 months, he started wriggling and banging his legs around all night. I thought it was a regression. This has calmed down but now he wakes every 30 mins from about 9pm.

I do everything by the book. He has a good bedtime routine, I rarely take him out of his cot so he does self-settle but by the time I drift off, he is crying again. He does seem to be asleep.

I haven't got a spare bedroom so he is in with me and I'm a single Mum so have nobody to help me. He also doesn't nap more than 30 mins and awakes crying from them so I can't even sleep when he sleeps.

I'm back to work FT from Jan and need to sort this or I'm going to be dead on my feet.

Any advice?

Argh, you poor thing. Could you take him into bed with you? Co sleeping can be great. Do be sure NEVER to drink alcohol etc, at risk of smothering a child. But otherwise, that’s what I’d do. Best of luck xx

Hi I know this isn’t any advice but I’ve a 10 month old who’s never slept either wakes between 6-11 times at night some times for periods of 3-4 hours. When he wakes he only wants held and will sleep when held but when I try and put him back in the cot he will just arch his back up and scream. Some nights he has come into bed with us after too many wake ups and he does sleep a bit better but we don’t sleep well just so conscious that he is in the bed so it has pros and cons. I just want to let you know you’re not alone and you’re doing an amazing job! x

Silent reflux?

As an update, I ended up paying a sleep therapist for support and with a few tweaks he now sleeps 11 hours pretty much outright and it only took a week. Best £80 ever spent. ❤️

Thanks for the update @Mamaux - which sleep therapist did you use?

Interesting. What did the therapist do ?

I contacted goodnightbaby.co.uk. a friend recommended her to me and said she was like Mary Poppins. I thought I was doing everything right (and to be fair I had done a lot right ie. Getting rid of dummies etc), which is why it worked quite quickly for me. It is all about routines, timings and sleep prompts. They're different for each baby's needs. My only regret is that I didn't do it quicker because I was being sold the flash narrative by everyone that "some babies don't sleep"; when actually all babies can sleep x
