Unsettled but not crying

Often during the night my DD, 8 weeks is unsettled in that she’ll be making noises and a bit whiny but will rarely cry unless she’s looking for a feed and of course then I pick her up and feed her. Should I be picking her up when she’s whining as well? I feel like I should be as when I hold her or lie her on my chest she is so settled, hardly makes a sound but then I can’t hold her all night either!

I would personally leave her, unless she's crying. She might be in active sleep or going back to sleep.

Not sure how long she actually makes the noise for, but she cries if she needs feeding. Obviously if you're not getting sleep then it's not really helpful. I think I was so tired I blanked any noise other than a cry from my son.

Yeah. I think unless getting upset I would leave lo. Just like pp.

I find it hard to leave judge the balance between grumbly whiny noises and upset. I guess unless she is full blown crying I’ll maybe just leave her then. I might need to get some ear plugs though as the noises are so loud. My first DD definitely wasn’t like this unless I’ve blocked it out!

My 5 week old does this. On her back she’s so unsettled all night long - grunts and shuffles about all night but sometimes doesn’t wake up fully - I don’t tend to feed her unless she starts sucking her hands and crying. But she’s generally up every 1-2 hours - if I hold her she’ll go a bit longer but I’m screwed either way because I can’t sleep when I’m holding her and I also can’t sleep when she’s making noises. I’m surviving on about 2 hours sleep (broken up) a night and I feel so so poorly.
