No sleep and losing my mind

Hi! Looking for advice. DS2 was a great sleeper until about 5 weeks ago. He is 13 months. DS1 brought flu home from nursery and we all caught it. But DS2s sleep hasn't gone back to normal. He has a half hour nap, and an hour nap every day. 7.30 bedtime. But is awake for hours through the night. He wakes crying anywhere between 12 and 3. Sometimes he goes back to sleep for a few hours. Sometimes he just cat naps from then until bed time the next night. Currently been up since half past 11 and I'm not sure what to do. He went back down for half an hour but otherwise is still up. He is held to sleep, then put in cot. We have tried controlled crying but he just cries until he is sick really. Co sleeping isn't an option and I'm at a total loss. Any magical sleep training methods I might not have tried? I drive for work and this isn't sustainable

Also awake. Now the ill child has gone back to sleep. I end up getting in his bed. But he starts off pretty well on his own. He's 19 months

He slept fine for 4 hours on his own before he got up. They always start off so well dont they. I gave him a blanket (which I don't usually, not keen on rushing into it just because over 12 months. DS1 we waited til 15 months when he just seemed more coordinated) and it seemed to confuse him enough to stop him crying for a bit so I could collect myself and get a drink etc. I've actually just watched him on the monitor fall asleep on his own for the first time since he was about 5 months old. On one hand I'm thrilled. I could actually cry. On the other I'm up for the nursery run in a couple hours. It's horrible how seemingly small illnesses just turn them upside down isn't it. I hope you get some sleep. Thank you so much for replying and helping me feel less alone

I've opted to keep him off he's awake again now.. its only temporary and a new born due in 7 weeks. Fml lol x

He's possibly cold. I can't sleep if I'm not warm enough.

It's not the cold we've ruled that out. Nursery is getting on about DS1 always seeming tired. DS2 Wakes him up. So everyone is sleep deprived really. Running out of ideas. Have left him to cry a couple times but he just makes himself sick. Have tried patting and shushing in the cot and he drifts off but he wakes as soon as I stop whether it's one minute or 20.
