Tips for getting 6 week old baby to sleep longer stretches?

Looking for any tips to experiment with to get my 6 week old to sleep longer stretches at night. Currently she usually goes down for 3ish hours, then 1.5-2 hours, then we struggle to get her back down, We usually put her down for the first stint between 9-10.

I'm aware at this stage there may well be nothing I can do about it, but curious to know if anyone tried anything and had any success?

Thanks!

Getting older is the only thing that worked for mine.

(Sorry OP)

Sorry but there is nothing you can do. It improves with age.

My daughter didn't sleep at all during the day and was up at the crack of dawn!! After 12 weeks things improved.

It just takes time.

Wait? (Sorry!)

It's developmentally normal because babies this young need to wake to feed. Their stomachs can't hold very much but given how fast they are burning through the calories as their body and brain is rapidly developing, they need to refuel. Think of it like an athlete who needs energy drinks/bars!
It's hard OP, really really hard. I was absolutely broken by it but it will change at some point and you will get longer sleeps again x

Thanks all - I suppose at least getting older is inevitable? May have to grin and bear it until then!

I broadly agree with all the PPs but you could try swaddling - it may make it easier to get her back down later in the night.

Completely forgot OP. Definitely try swaddling.

Mine all stayed like that for months (not what you want to hear). Really it is only time that improves things. I do empathise it's awful when you are getting no proper stretches of sleep yourself

Time helped with mine, and from where you are now it wasn't a lot of time. From around 7 weeks he started sleeping 6-hour stretches and by 3 months he was sleeping 9 hours. He didn't go to bed until close to midnight, though, at 2 months old and that had gradually crept earlier to 10pm by 3 months.

I had blissful 8 weeks of sleep until at 15 weeks the famous 4 month regression hit and he hasn't slept longer than 3 hours since! He's 6 months this week 🙃
