Cot Bed Mattresses... does it really matter which?!

Currently looking at three different types of Silver Cross mattress (and feeling like a terrible mother for considering the 'classic', as the cheapest option, rather than the 'premium' at double the price!) and also the Little Green Sheep one.

Some of these are dearer than the cot!

What's the norm? Do most people splurge on mattresses or am I falling for consumer advertising here and should I just be hitting middle of the range?

My little one is one so looking to get a few years out of this between cot / cotbed.

This thread is quite old now so some of the suggestions may be out of date, but if you’ve landed here looking for cot mattress recommendations, we’ve recently updated our best cot mattress page with lots of great options, as tried and tested by Mumsnet users. We hope you find it useful.

Makes zero difference - buy the cheap one. They all have to conform to safety standards

I bought the cheap one from Aldi at £25 after reading the positive reviews. Actually really impressed with the quality.

May invest in a topper once I turn it into the bed part of the cot.

IKEA foam mattress here! We did splurge on a wool duvet and that seemed to coincide with better sleep for us, but could have been a complete coincidence

Hi @crabette Thanks for posting. Just popping in with the link to our article on the best cot mattresses. You might find it useful. You'll find a range of cot mattresses at different prices, which we chose because of recommendations from Mumsnet users and their great consumer reviews. Do let us know if you find it useful.
