Hi parents
Ive been a lurker for the past few months and finally plucked up the courage to reach out.
My 3m DS is a bugger for having to be on the move for naps and I have co-slept from day 1 at home (3 nights in hospital due to jaundice and both had infection)
I wanted to start putting him in the Next2me from the second week we were home however, colic appeared and ruined that for us. I think he’s done probably 2 first half of the night in there but I told my partner that we need our space back so I can get a proper sleep (subconsciously aware he is there as not to smother him) and also to get my relationship back, so we’ve been putting him in the Next2me and it is literally RIGHT next2me! I rock him/bounce him through the colic which thankfully seems to be dying off now and then place him carefully in the crib with his white noise blasting and dummy in. I come downstairs and he does 20-45 mins in it (monitor on so I can keep check) then I go up to bed and it begins…the hell! He wiggles/whines/squirms/moans for the duration of the night. I feed him and put him back in there but it’s just a viscious cycle.
I should mention that he has reflux and is on prescription milk and Omeprazole too.
side note: he sleeps on his side 🙁 always has done!
i have to continually put his dummy in, pat his back, shhhh, roll him on his side after he has rolled over the cellular blanket onto his back, move his arms if he jerks, pick him up for cuddle, generally just not sleep!
Im at a loss as he sleeps so well when in my bed (even if I turn away and am not touching him)
I’ve recently started putting him down for naps once he is asleep, just transfer him to either sofa or his ring cushion or even my bed, he does around 20-30 min cat naps in the day and also a long morning nap in the carrier or pram or both.
i just don’t understand why he is getting this way about night sleep?! As I say he sleeps well in my bed (superking bed with me and partner) but I really want him to have his own space.
cant swaddle as he is a side sleeper
He goes in his sleeping bag each night
I don’t bath at night due to colic I bath in mornings
He has lots of massages/cycle legs throughout the day so I try get as much wind up as possible and I always make sure he has his naps to avoid getting overtired.
thanks
