Getting in a muddle with 5-month old's routine!

Hi all,

My DS is 5 months old and I've found myself getting muddled with his sleep/nap/feeding routine.

Currently, his bedtime routine is quite... 'routined'! He has a bath at about 7pm, sometimes a book if he isn't too grumpy and then drops off quite easily between 7 and 7.30.

For example, a typical day look loosely like this (I've started from bedtime as it's easier to explain...):
7.30pm: bedtime (this is the easiest, most reliable part of the day.)
Somewhere between 3:30 - 5am: stirs from sleep (I never know whether this should be a bottle because at 3:30, it feels like the middle of the night and one of his 5 bottles from the day before, yet 5 feels like morning and the first bottle of the next day!)
Anywhere from 4 - 6:00 wakes up (again, I don't know what to do here. Is DS awake for the day, or is it still classed as a night waking?!)

He then tends to nap after being awake for 2-3.5 hours at a time throughout the day, which equals about 4 hours of daytime sleep altogether. However, the times and durations of these vary so much, I don't know if I'm coming or going. I just watch out for sleepy cues and then put him down for a nap.

He feeds every four hours but again, this varies so much depending on what I do in the night/early morning. I can't decide what's best!

Thanks in advance for any advice! 😅

It doesn't sound like there's a problem? I wish mine slept like this! What is it you're trying to figure out?

@Lw56992
Sounds like my five month old. I'm happy with it now I've stopped stressing over it.

Just roll with it I guess

Sounds great! Sleeping much better than mine did at that age.

I’d definitely feed if he’s waking at 3am or whatever, especially if he’s waking again quite soon after again.

And I wouldn’t stick rigidly to 5 bottles day. Some days he might be hungrier than others - it doesn’t have to be the same every day.
