napping in car seat

have always been very careful to not let lo spend lots of time as newborn in car seat

now as a 6 month old however...

if not out and about in car/pram we struggle to get him to nap in his bed

found out by putting him in car seat he really naps well even longer than 30 mins - peaceful and all by himself

should i not do this? bad for back? for for future?

he does get flat time at night from 7-7 with breaks as he doesnt sleep through

or should i cause him great stress and get him to finally sleep after an hour of trying tantrums etc for 20min in bed??

not all the time btw just for naps sometimes, if he sleeps in it i'd use it, he's older now. i'm sure somone will disagree though

I think whatever gets them to sleep...great! I wouldn't use it all the time, but there are times when my little one falls asleep in the carseat, and I'm definitely not going to be the one to wake him! When he was only a couple months old, he had some congestion in his chest and was only able to sleep upright...I put him in his carseat for a few nights because it was the only thing that worked. I asked my doctor about this and she said if it was something we did for months on end, it might be a problem, but every once in awhile isn't going to harm them.

I find the same thing with my baby - from about 4 1/2 months (she's now 6 months) she hated napping in the cot, but will often sleep in the car-seat in the day - even without going in the car or rocking it. I think she likes it because it's cosy compared with the cot. As she sleeps in the cot at night, I figure it's better for her to sleep in the seat in the day, than not sleep at all, or fall asleep on me.
