I've just bought a newborn grosnug for our first baby who is due in November. Obviously baby will wake in the night for feeds, should I free his arms while he is feeding or leave them in the swaddle? I'm planning to breastfeed if I can, if that makes any difference. So much that I don't know...!

I used to leave my son in the swaddle bag, we used the love to dream one. I think it helped him stay more relaxed! Although we did used to chuckle when he wiggle his arms cos they couldn’t move much 😂 he’s 9 weeks old now and we have just transitioned him out of the swaddle bag into a sleeping bag with no problems. Only thing I have heard is some babies struggle to come out of swaddles due to not feeling as cosy. We have a sleepyhead /dockatot though so I think that has helped! It’s great!

I couldn't feee my baby in the grosnug. Found it really hard. Try and see if you can do it?

When I fed DS in the night, I would feed him back to sleep. If I had freed his arms or removed the grosnug to feed then I would have woken him trying to put it back on. I am sure other babies would stay asleep, mine was disturbed by everything.

That's what I was thinking- if I get his arms out, how will I get them back in once he's asleep? I guess it's a trial and error thing as to whether we can feed with them in or not.

I use Love to Dream and do free her arms while feeding (formula not BF). I burp her on my shoulder after feeds which is hard with her arms swaddled.she seems happier feeding with her arms out too. I can usually sneak them back in without waking her. Try and see what works for you after your baby is born.
