Missed nap - early or late bedtime?

Curious to know what you'd do.

My 4 month old usually goes to bed at 8 and takes 4 naps during the day. The last nap usually finished about 5/5.30. he missed than nap today (woken by a bang after 5 mins) and we couldn't get him down again. By 6.30 he was beside himself. Would you get in a late nap, another wake window and push bedtime back to 9/10 or just put him down for the night?

We're in the throes of a sleep regression anyway so nightime wakings is anyone's guess

At 4 months I'd put him down when tired and, if he settled, try to get some sleep myself. So I vote early! It's an absolute nightmare at that age though so good luck!

If he's tired I'd try to get him down rather than try to push him back later, he may end up overtired and not go down at all.

Thanks guys! I put him down an hour early and so far he's stayed sleeping.. wish me luck 🤣
