waking up grumpy

my ds has started waking up from his naps very grumpy and either howls or cries for about 10-15 mins after waking up. He used to be grumpy 50% of the time and smiley the other 50%. Now its 100% of the time he's grumpy.
Does that mean he's not had long enough - even after 2 hours sometimes?

could be that he's getting too much - you know when you get past a 'nap' and fall into a deep sleep and feel ten times worse when you wake up?! How old is he? Might be worth gently waking him after 45 mins or so and see what he's like...

dd used to cry after 30-45 mins, but if she has over an hour, but no more than hour and half, shes normally great!
if she has too long, shes grumpy again.
however, i normally sit her with me until she 'wakes up properly', but ive found this makes her worse, today i sat her at the pc with me and ut balamory on and she was great!
