my 13 month old son stays awake to almost 11.30 some nights so looking for some advice

he was sleeping for 1 hour 15 in the afternoon then depending if we had been in the car later in the day a 15 min nap but I stopped the other nap by keeping him awake and he’s still staying up to 10.30 or 11 and I don’t know what to do with him. He wakes at 7 every day so he’s only getting 8 hours sleep overnight. Starting to get to me too that I have no downtime to myself

My thoughts would be-

What time does he sleep in day? Any chance he'll sleep earlier?
Or
He is still quite young for one nap Any chance he's over tired and going hyper? My son is on the lower end of average for sleep needs and was having a short (capped) nap in the morning and a longer nap early afternoon at this age.
Or
Could he be in discomfort making it hard to fall asleep? Teeth or ears maybe?

My DD is 13 months and has a late bedtime as it works for us and I'd rather not get up before 6am. She will only sleep 10 hours overnight sometimes 11 but goes to bed between 9/10pm depending on her naps.

It's possible your DS needs more daytime sleep. My DD is on 2 naps a day and her wake windows vary between 3-4 hours. Usually she'll have 2 naps about an hour to hour and a half in length, sometimes she'll just have 1 3 hour nap.

Is your DS grumpy when he wakes in the morning? Some children are lower sleep needs so this could be it but I'd start by trying to work on the daytime sleep. Maybe a longer nap in the morning and shorter one in the afternoon to try and get an earlier bedtime.
If he does only need 8 hours overnight though then if you manage to get him to bed at 7pm he will be waking up really early.

Thought I would update the last few days his nap has been earlier (I just go by when he’s tired I don’t set a nap time) he’s started sleeping around 12 to 2 then he was able to sleep from 8.30 but I think he will wake at 5am as the most he sleeps is 9 hours. I should be grateful for 9 but those early wake up with work the next day 😅will see how tonight goes as last night he was awake to 10.30 and his nap was before 12 so that makes no sense , I assume he was overtired then became hyper or something
