In recent weeks, DS has started sleeping anything from 5 to 8 hours straight at night (which is a huge improvement from every 2 to 3 hours!).

When he wakes in the night, he very rarely
cries. I'm usually woken by him "chatting", kicking the bottom of his cot and/or loudly sucking his hand. After a few minutes, I'll get up, take him out of his cot (he is wide awake when this happens and will smile and gurgle at me) and will give him a feed. This takes 15mins, but can take up 30mins, and he'll fall asleep.

So, DH is wondering if I am creating a rod for my own back by going to DS when he wakes, rather than leaving him to either self-settle or cry. My (rather selfish) argument is I can't sleep while DS is awake, as he's so loud, that it's easier for me to feed him so we can both go back to sleep. DH is a notoriously deep sleeper so he isn't affected by any of this anyway.

Should I be leaving DS until he actually needs me? Am I creating a bad habit now that'll cause problems in the long run?
