11 week old morning problems

First time mum so would be grateful for some advice!
My 11 week old has suddenly started waking up around 5-6am after a 3/4am feed, as soon as we take him out of the Moses basket and hold him he goes straight back to sleep but put him down and he wakes up again, I don’t want to co sleep with him but it’s the only way I can get a couple of extra hours sleep.
He also farts a lot in the morning and it always seems like it hurts him as he cries before he does it and stops after. I don’t know if this is what is waking him up as he gets very squirmy like he has trapped wind but I burp him and nothing comes up.
Is this normal for him to wake and want to sleep on us and not in the basket? Should I leave him in the basket to go back to sleep himself? Or should I be looking at how to co sleep? Very confused!!

My 20 week old still wakes up 5-6am, I think it's quite normal. If your baby is old enough maybe consider giving them some gripe water to relieve the gas in their stomach. When they bring their legs up it's usually a sign of stomach pains or pooing.

It also took my baby ages to sleep in his bed by himself as he preferred sleeping on us. We would have to stay up with him 20minutes after he fell asleep when we knew he was in a deep sleep before putting him down. You have to preserve unfortunately. FYI - it should get better my baby now sometimes can be put down half awake.

@ChobKnees okay maybe that is just the time of day he wants to wake up, early bird haha!
I might try gripe water then, he is formula fed and tends to poo every couple of days but he does sometimes struggle.
hopefully he will get better the older he gets!
