Did the pick up put down awake work for your LO? How old were they? How did you do it? Any tips?

I did it a bit around 5 months. Only because feeding to sleep and cuddling / rocking to sleep wasn't working. She was getting wound up!!
I did it for the bedtime (not in night as too young and always feed every 3-4 hours).
When they cried, I'd pick up cuddle put back down when calm. Took about 30 minutes first night then less every night. I was always next to baby with hand on them in between and occasional verbal reassurance. Only picked up if proper cry as opposed to fussing. I used a shushing noise from sound sleeper app too. I started to withdraw more and more over a few weeks and sort of blended it into controlled crying when she got to over 6 months but if absolutely definitely distressed I would pick up and cuddle. My baby definitely got the message quickly! I can put her down awake but drowsy and she will go to sleep on her own now (7 months)
