Separation anxiety at night

I have a 12 month old DS. From around 6/7 months he would sleep through 7ish-5:30ish. In the last couple of weeks he has been tricky to get to bed and then been waking fairly soon after. The last few nights he’s gone down at 8, then wakes at 11/12 and needs comforting, then again at 3 and 5.

i have been giving him a bottle at bedtime which I think has been a mistake. When he turned one we just started giving cows milk first thing in the morning and last thing at night but I think the night time bottle may have become a crutch?

but the main issue is that he seems to have developed separation anxiety at bedtime. Through the day he’s fine, eg I’ll go in another room and he’s fine. But tonight he just screamed and screamed until we put him in our bed then he went to sleep straight away. I am lying down next to him trying to stop him rolling out!

don’t want to have to say goodbye to my evenings and would love him to go back to sleeping through - has anyone got any ideas or had a similar experience and can offer any reassurance? Thank you so much
