Sleep in travel cots????

My 5mth DS has slept in his cot, car seat or push chair from day 1 and has done very well. He has learned how to get himself back to sleep from his naps in the day and just moans before having another 45mins kip. I need him to get used to sleeping in a travel cot so that we can visit family over Xmas and go on holiday etc. We tried him in it today but he woke after 45mins and then cried for nearly an hour before he was able to get back off. If he doesn't get at least 1.5hours over dinnertime DS is really grouchy all afternoon and we don't want to spend Xmas at people's houses with a really cranky baby! Do we persist and do cc?? Has anyone else out there had this?

I found with dd it wasn't so much the cot but the bedding. As long as she has her familiar sheets, blankets, grobag, she's fine.

It never occurred to me that mine wouldn't sleep in a travel cot if needs be . I guess I was just lucky that they did. Agree with using familiar blankets etc

As for bonniej. Forced to have ds (4 months) sleep in travel cot in hotel room recently & they supplied a baby duvet - thought those weren't supposed to be a good idea for under 12 months anyway?

He HATED it - cried for an hour whereas normally zonks out in 10 minutes. Had to repeat hotel room experience so took his own blanket (mostly to avoid the duvet problem) & he was fine.
