3 year old suddenly tired all the time

Hi all,
Just wanted a bit of advice.
My (nearly) 3 yo has started to be really tired all the time.
She dropped her nap a few weeks ago and was fine up until about the last hour before bed time - when she’d start getting tired, grouchy and whingy.
Recently however she seems tired when she wakes up. When I’ve been able to get her to nap - she’s napping for at least an hour - and waking up still looking tired and is still grumpy. She’s then going to bed at her normal time and going to sleep (mostly) straight after her stories.
She is having another bout of night wakings which may be contributing to her constant feeling tired/bad mood - but she’s never been a great sleeper and broken sleep has never affected her behaviour before.
She has also started to refuse her lunch. Her appetite is normally like a bottomless pit but for the last couple of days she’s been declining food that I know she likes/has asked for.
Because she’s constantly tired she’s is grumpy & whingy for large portions of the day. I also have a (nearly) 6 month old who has decided she wants to feed all night so I’m also feeling the effects of sleep deprivation.
Do I have a need to worry about toddler? She’s not ill, she has a varied diet, and she has her multi vitamin every day.
I don’t feel like I’ll get taken seriously at the doctors as other than seeming tired and grumpy there’s nothing else wrong with her.
I thought it might be a developmental thing. They don’t call them threenagers for nothing 😂 But I’m just not sure if there’s something else going on

Tired and low appetite should warrant a check with the GP, I reckon.

GP ASAP. It very much warrants a visit

Is she drinking more?

Motherhippo · 08/08/2022 18:55

@toomuchlaundry No, she’s a bit like me in that she only really has drinks when she’s eating. So I have to prompt her throughout the day to drink her water.
She ate her breakfast just fine. Ate hardly any lunch and hasn’t eaten all her dinner.
I don’t know if the food is pushing boundaries as she has asked for a yoghurt just now despite declining her dinner. And now she’s in bed she’s complained she’s hungry.
It seems to be lunch which is the biggest issue. Yesterday she ate most of her breakfast, didn’t eat a lot of lunch but ate all her dinner.
This in itself is out of character as she normally is always asking for food - she didn’t ask this afternoon for anything to eat despite her not having really any lunch.
Could it be the hot weather putting her off her food?
Our GP isn’t the greatest - for example all I got was a telephone appointment for my baby who’s had a cough lasting over 3 weeks. I’m worried they’ll just fob me off.
