Hi,

my son who’s 4 months is a week deep in the 4 month sleep regression. Catnaps, nighttime waking and bedtimes are a nightmare.

what’s worse is his dummy is making it worse. When it falls out he keeps waking up. In the night he wakes up and settles when I put it back in. I’m making a rod for my own back and I’ve tried to put him down without it but he wont sleep!!

I’ve tried to take it away when he’s about 9.5 on the drowsy scale but he will only sleep for about 5 minutes then wake looking for it.

mom trying to encourage him to suck on his hands to self settle however he hasn’t got good control yet and won’t always keep his hands near his face.

any tips?!

Try a different shaped dummy. My little ones all have the cherry style dummy as it's wider and has a better hold in the mouth.

Which ones are the cherry style ones?

I just took the dummy away cold turkey when my baby was 5months old - I couldn't take the constant getting up to put it back in.

It was 3 very tough days/nights but after that it was like he never had it.
