SOS - 7 month old waking at 5am

Hi!
my baby will be 7 months on Friday (feels mental saying that! 🥲) and she wakes up at 5am religiously. Thankfully she’s now in her own room so her chatting isn’t as loud through the wall, but I’m wondering if anyone has advice on how to curve the 5am rise as she’s still clearly shattered. We have blackout blinds & curtains, white noise in the sense of the road traffic by our house & her rooms a nice temperature.
we leave her until she starts getting louder around 6am, then we’re up for the day, downstairs & play, I’ve been trying to extend the first wake window til 8am which is a struggle. Unsure if I should try get her to catnap at 6.30-7am instead of getting her up?
rough routine looks like
5am she wakes
6am we get her up for the day, changed & downstairs
6.30am 8oz bottle
8-9/9.30 - 1st nap (usually 1-1.5 hours)
10.30 8oz bottle
11.20/12 lunch
12.30-1.30 - 2nd nap (usually around 1 hour)
2.30 8oz bottle
3.30/4 - attempt 3rd nap although sometimes she refuses (30 minutes if we get it)
6-6.30 bath & another 8oz bottle
bed anywhere between 6pm-7.30pm depending on how the last nap has done!
Any advice very welcome!

Does she wake or have a feed after her 6.30pm bottle?

At 7 months I would drop the 3rd nap, mine were also not even that reliable on the morning nap at this age but slept longer after lunch. Also is she only on one meal a day? I would feed more if you're not. Not that it seems a problem as she might be crying in the morning if she were hungry but I always just cracked on with 3 meals asap and it really did help with routines.

Sometimes babies just like to wake up early. Annoying isn't it?!! If she's happy then leave her in her cot as long as you like. It's like friendly sleep training where she'll either get bored and restless so you'll get up or bored and go back to sleep!

Not an expert just my experiences (3kids)

Our LO did this from 5-9 months it was exhausting! Extending the first wake window definitely helped a bit although it was hard work! Tbh the only thing that really helped was when she started crawling as she was so tired she then started sleeping through. I
Would definitely drop the third nap though

My youngest woke from 5.30 from 6 months to 18 months. And that was with full nursery days. Not great when going back to work. Used to pick him up and lie on sofa with him. Not making it wake up and play time. Just quiet time. Sometimes we both went back to sleep!

But sometimes they just wake up and are early risers for a while. But i just adapted and went to bed at 10 so I got enough sleep to accommodate. Then all of a sudden he slept til 7.

Good luck but it may be out of your control

Thanks for the replies everyone!
@Seeline no she doesn’t - we tried dream feeding which in turn ended up with her taking barley 3oz & then being awake for over an hour and still up at 5am.
@imnotthatkindofmum thank you - just a struggle to drop it as shes awake from her first nap back of 1/2 so it’s a long slog til bedtime but Will try and extend first morning nap and see how we get on! And I’ll try just introducing 3 meals - she steals my breakfast most mornings anyway!
@thismotherhoodthing Thank you! It’s just the fact she wants up but she’s still shattered 🤣 will try moving morning nap to drop the last nap as she’ll then be going from like 1/2 til bedtime at 6!
@Nadal yeah we’ve been going to be earlier now to counteract it! Feel she might just be a wee early bird

If she is sleeping from 6.30/7pm until 5.30am with no wakes I think you should be counting yourselves very lucky!
My first barely slept at all at that age, and was certainly ready for the day at about 5/5.30. My second was still on 2 hourly feeds 24/7.
What happens if you give her the first bottle of the day when she wakes - would she go back to sleep for a while before having breakfast?

Mine slept till noon. Friends were amazed and asked how, because theirs were up at 5am.

Mine was up till midnight, that’s how. You don’t get a lie in when they go down at 7pm! 🤷🏻‍♀️

SSmum22 · 04/08/2022 07:11

so yesterday we were up from 4am 🫠
but this morning I fed & changed her at 5am when she was awake chatting and she’s still currently asleep at 7.10am from 7.20pm last night 🙌🏼 (Fair enough she was wanting her dummy at 11.30pm, 4am… but still small victories!)
glad I’ve found the cause must’ve been hunger, just hoping we don’t get into the habit of a 5am bottle! Hope now we’ve started 3 meals a day along with her 4 bottles we’ll get that longer stretch! Thanks everyone.
