Dummy recommendations

Apologies if I am writing this in the wrong place.

My 10 week old son is loving using my breasts for comfort. Once he is asleep I try to put him down but he wakes up instantly. Can you recommend any dummies we can try so hopefully he won't wake up and can settle him easier?

He has one bottle at night and so far refused mam and tommee tippee closer to nature dummies so far.

Did have this issue with my first as she took to a dummy straight away.

At 10 weeks with a breastfed baby I'm sorry to say you're probably shit out of luck introducing a dummy.

Oh bugger. I was really hoping he might take to one 😂

I tried and tried at that age and DD was nothing short of furious - who can blame them?! Why would you want a cold piece of weird smelling/tasting plastic while all by yourself when you could have warm snuggly mummy cuddles and a nice milky nipple!?

Little terrors. Can't fault their reasoning.

It really depends on your baby. My little girl liked the cherry shaped teats, not the flat ones, so I used bib which she took to straight away.

Try Nuk ones

stormy11 · 08/08/2022 03:45

Yeah I can't blame him for not taking to one.... Will try bib and nuk. Thanks!

Try Avent ones, I know when ds was a baby they were the only ones he would gave, I lost it one day when we were out & couldn't get one where we were & bought a different brand, he just spat it out every time I gave it him. He was FF & the Avent ones matched the bottles I used.

Hey, I am in the same situation, I felt my baby didn't need a dummy when he was younger as he slept anyway. Now he's 4 months, I've noticed he has started using me as a dummy. I've tired mams and tommee tippee. But no luck.
Did you find one that worked for you?

stormy11 · 15/09/2022 12:44

I am sorry to hear that. My son is 4 months too. Nope none have worked, Bib do an assorted pack on amazon, his favourite are the latex ones but he still won't take it a lot. They might be worth a try?

I’m in the same boat with my 4 month old! Cursing past me for not introducing one already at the hospital but everyone kept scaring me with “nipple confusion” and breastfeeding definitely failing if you give one too early 🙈 he has TWICE in his life accepted a mam one in the car, but that was now weeks ago and now he’s back to spitting it out every time I try. I also have an avent one that he refuses.

@GinnyBee I wish I never listened to the advice either. It's so tough isn't it? Ds uses me as a dummy overnight and as i don't want him waking his sister up I just let him do it. Really need to break this habit. X
