Dropping to 1 nap

Can anyone tell me what happened when their child dropped to one nap please? I've seen a lot of information that seems to be focused on the afternoon nap becoming shorter, but for me he's started to drop/shorten his morning nap and just doing 2 hours in the afternoon (12-2). Sleep at night has been horrific for weeks, but after sheer panic of wtf is going on I think it could be a nap drop.

He's 17 months.

Many thanks!

Just after 12 months mine dropped morning nap
You might need to do an early lunch and then nap for a few weeks then gradually stretch to lunch at usual time and nap after hopefully for a couple of hours.

@Mexicansky

Ah great, I'll try that. Thank you.

Does it sound like the awful night sleep (constant wake ups) and now the nap in the morning being phased out IS because of the nap transition?

Mine dropped to one nap 12-2 at around 14 months.

CantaloupeMelon · 28/07/2022 16:43

Yes, there was a transition period during which it can affect their night time sleep.

@CantaloupeMelon

Does your LO still do 12-2?

Hi OP, my DC are older now, but yes they kept doing 12-2 ish until they dropped naps completely.

Mine dropped to one nap about 12 months, around midday depending on how early they woke up. They normally went for two hours and slept fine at night.

@CantaloupeMelon thank you xx

@Sandysandwich I am praying we are at the end of the savagery that has been sleep lately and it is the nap transition! I'm so tired my head is about to fall off.

Could be. My lo just dropped to one nap completely and I found that her sleep was a bit erratic for about a week to 10 days.

But perhaps it's the 18 month sleep regression?

@ChittyBang1987

I just feel like this has been going on for so long that I question everything. Hopefully a combination of the two.
