do i give the 4 o clock feed or not??

6 month old little one causing no end of problems

ok gets put to bed between 6-630 as gets so grumpy never can go beyond that hour and it makes no difference if he does anyway

wakes up at 4 - sometimes 3 sometimes 5 - sometimes i say sometimes aftew ignoring small grumps he can go back to sleep till 6

but like yesterday utter screams so we give in

always has a big-ish feed

now do i give that feed or am i allowing him to wake up every day at that time by expecting a feed at that time??

big dilemma

ok, try moving bedtime forwards by 5 minutes every week until you are at the right time.

if you manage to get lo to sleep at 7.30 then hopefully 6 am should be the earliest he/she wakes.

i think if baby is waking up at four because he/she went to bed at 6 then he/she is probably hungry.

moving bedtime forwards will help but it will take a few weeks for lo yo adjust.

but some evenings if he goes to bed at that time after a bath -it makes no difference to fact he wakes up 3-5 am!

yes but you aren't giving him enough time to adjust to the later bedtime.

try giving something to eat before bed maybe hungry still

think i was told to give baby rice as my ds used to be the same

and he did sleep through try giving water and not milk as water will fill up but he will get used to waking for milk so if not happy with feeding at that time then stop

and try food before bed with milk if feed before bath try feeding after so tummy is content

they have growth spurts so hunger patterns change as do sleep. Just as you get it all sorted, they change again.

9 mth old goes to bed at 7pm wakes at 11 4 and then through til 7
I feed him

my ds had a night feed till 8 months and gave it up of his own accord. 6/6.30pm till 3/4/5am is a long time without food. I would probably wait till your lo is more established on solids before trying to cut out the milk (although from 6 months I did start reducing the amount of milk I offered in the night feed by 1 oz every few days until he got to 4oz and then he gave up the feed by himself)
