Newborn / Swaddle / This heat

Could anyone please give me some tips on how to get a newborn to sleep at night through this heatwave without being swaddled? DS will wake up by hitting himself in the face if his arms aren’t in a swaddle! I don’t expect a full night sleep at all but it’s so hot I don’t think swaddling is the best idea! Thank you

I think if I had a newborn in this heat I'd just put a nappy on and very, very lightly swaddle in a layer of muslin only and check regularly on their temperature. Possibly sleep in the coolest room of the house if there is one?

I am planning to sleep downstairs with newborn tonight in the coolest room (living room), that way can still do a light swaddle with a muslin (also have 0.5 tog swaddle bag but would not use above 26-27 degrees) and she will just be wearing a nappy. Tried last night without a swaddle at first, but it was a disaster. As soon as swaddled, she was fast asleep!!

You could try a half swaddle, just do the top and leave the legs free

I have been using the tommee tippee 0.2 tog growbags that allow you to swaddle your baby and putting a sleeveless thin vest underneath. Hope that helps.

Omg I wouldn't swaddle in this heat. Nappy only I think. Maybe light vest
