6 Month Old Sleep is a Mess

DS used to be such a good sleeper until the 4m regression hit and it all went to hell. After about 6/7 weeks he started improving again and then leap 5 happened (I know leaps might actually be a load of rubbish but the last 2 seem to have been spot on). On the day leap 5 should have ended (Monday just gone), he actually had such a good night - had long stretches of sleep, only waking twice. I was practically skipping around the house the next day because I was so relieved but then lo and behold…since then it’s been crap again :( The following night he woke every 2 hours and now for the last few nights he’ll go down for 1.5-2 hours to start with and then wake every 30mins-1 hour for the rest of the night. Takes about an hour in between sleeps to get him back down (he’s asleep but takes a while for him to be deeply asleep enough to put down). I’m absolutely knackered and just spend every night so frustrated. His napping is rubbish as well. I just watch for his sleepy cues and look out for his wake windows but if I put him in his cot when he’s asleep, he’ll wake after 30mins and sometimes he’ll fight naps completely. He’s only just started weaning and it’s been quite a slow process so far - baby rice and porridge seemed to give him painful gas in the night and he’s not hugely impressed with puréed veg so far! I know he can self settle to a certain extent because I’ve seen him do it on the monitor! Just at a loss really. DH wants to sleep train and I must admit I’m getting to the point I think we’ll have to. I hate the idea of cc but can’t see pu/pd working? I keep begging him to start sleeping better so we don’t have to do any training but each night is the same and I’m exhausted.

Honestly just do it he sleep training! We waited until 8 months - had 3 months of hell tbh with hourly wake ups

we did in room settling with gradual retreat and leaving her for 5 mins then back in, then leaving and gradually upping the time

I hated it that first night but once she fell asleep she slept a chunk of time (6 hours I think)

then night 2 she cried only 10 mins and then 5 mins etc

It was such a relief and wish I did it sooner!

The naps all fell into place once the nights were sorted
