11 month old wakes at 4am daily

Hi everyone,

New to here and praying someone can help me.
My 11 month old daughter has been waking at 4am daily for 6ish weeks

She has two naps a day which amount to around 3 hours and is usually asleep by 6:30pm. I struggle to keep her awake later because of the early wake up however on the odd occasion she has gone to sleep later it's made no difference to the wake up time.
She can last about 4 hours between naps and then needs a sleep and I think she only needs about 10 hours at night.
She eats very well during the day and is still BF.
My partner is working away and the sleep deprivation is making me miserable.
Can anyone make any suggestions as to how I can get her to sleep later or alter her body clock?
I would be happy with a 5am wake up at this rate!

Thanks,

Maddison

I would say lo is overtired tbh. Going 4 hours between naps is a long time for a 11 month old.

What is your current routine? And do you wake lo from naps?

I don't think it's always possible to change it, my son has always been an early riser and I wasted so much time trying to change it but nothing seemed to make a difference. I just went to bed early every night.

When I say 4 hours, at 3.5 hours we go up for a nap or bed and feed to sleep which roughly takes 4 hours.
She wakes and has a feed. Then breakfast around an hour later and then we go out for a stroll, then nap. Wakes up and plays, then nap/ play time/ lunch and nap (repeat including evening meal) and then bed.
She has plenty of time to burn off energy with crawling and learning to walk etc.
Maybe she is just an early bird?

Is she tired when she wakes at 4am
Or ready to
Start her day?

I'd try aiming to have her down asleep before the 4 hour mark. So 3.5- 3.75 hours after the last nap. Might not help but worth a shot if 4 hours isn't quite having the desired morning start. Though I think a lot of babies go through a period of silly 4am starts. Mine did it at 13 months for a few weeks. Now thankfully only does it when his mouth is driving him crazy.

Thank you Jillybean13 - I will try this.
She does have a couple of teeth coming through but this wouldn't explain the 4am wake ups for the last however many weeks! Xx

Is her room completely dark? Are the birds waking her? We use a blind from Amazon which makes the room completely pitch black.

eatingasatsuma · 14/07/2022 21:11

Not that you can do anything about the birds, it just might explain it. I always found when the winter comes they sleep in a little. Another not very helpful thought, sorry Grin

I went through this with DS at the same age, and it was a phase. Over the course of a few weeks, wake ups gradually got a bit later - so 5am, 5.30 etc. He's 13 months now and wake ups are usually about 6am now. He does go down later at night though, and he sleeps about 8-10 hours. I'd love him to do 7-7!
