So my 2 year old has suddenly being extremely difficult to get to sleep. He usually goes bed at like 7.30/8 now all of a sudden he looks tired next thing he's ping awake climbing out of his cot constantly. Screaming won't lie down, you can't rock him as he wants to just run off go downstairs. I've cut his nap back to like 40 minutes at like 12 has anyones child dropped a nap completely at 2? He was 2 in April! It's really hard work we have a 4 year old goes sleep bang on 7 and a 2 year old where I think it was 10 o'clock last night before we managed to get him to sleep!!!
He did usually have a bottle a few weeks ago and we have dropped that but he never actually fell asleep on the bottle? So not sure if it is that but I don't want to give him the bottle back.

Do you have a proper bed time routine?
My 2 year old knows it’s pjs, milk, story then bed time. We watch the cbeebies bed time story and song and that’s his cue to go upstairs . Bed time song(the barney i love you song 😁)
night night then kisses lights off. We’re consistent every night and he’s asleep by 7:15.

Also still naps for 1 hour plus

Maybe try dropping his nap all together?
My son stopped napping at 18months and then slept 6pm till 6am then I gradually started adding 10 mins to his bed time untill it was 7-7
He's nearly 4 now and does 7.30-6/7.30

DD2 2.5yrs old doing this and had to drop naps completely as even 30 minutes was resulting in long bedtime. Now in bed and asleep 7.30-8 (which is bedtime in our house)

DD1 dropped her naps at 2.2yrs for same reason.

My daughter dropped her nap at the same age - same as you bedtime was getting later and later!

We dropped naps at around 17 months with my eldest, he was killing us being wide awake at 11-12pm and I was pregnant and desperately in need of sleep. No amount of good nighttime routine would help.

My son dropped his nap at 10-11 months. I was a bit horrified but he still needs the least sleep of us all!

We dropped the nap and he's been sleeping 7.30-7 I'm amazed haha he hasn't been sleeping through for ages! Can't believe it thanks guys gutted the nap has gone but small price to pay for a bit of sanity at bed time x
