My baby is almost 6 months old and has pretty much always breast fed to sleep. He's pretty good at sleeping at night, but I'm having trouble with his naps. I've recently moved him to his big cot for naps, to get used to it before we move him overnight. However, when I put him in the cot he either wakes up immediately or sleeps for 5-10 minutes and then wakes up.
I'd like to try some sort of sleep training so I can put him down awake and he can learn to fall asleep alone, however my problem is that he will only feed if he's drowsy. He gets too distracted if I try to feed him when he's wide awake, even if he's really hungry. So every time I feed him, he falls asleep, then I put him in his cot and he wakes up.
What should I do? Should I be feeding him then waking him up to put him down in his cot, then do the sleep training? Is there some magic trick I'm not aware of to make him feed while he's awake?
