5mo frequent waking?

DS has had awful sleep since 3mo. I started the popping down drowsy but awake giving him dummy and holding his hand until he drifted off

this worked well. He does a good stretch 8pm-12am and probably mooches for the dummy once in this time

He has a bottle about 12am and it’s all downhill from there. He takes ages to go back in his bedside cot. If I leave him in there he’ll be wide awake chatting. When I do get him down (usually about 1) he’s awake before 2 crying (not hungry or dirty nappy) and I give up and safely (following lullaby trust guidelines) co sleep

I don’t want to co sleep it doesn’t even make him sleep more! He’s still waking but every hour rather than every half hour so it gets me and DP some sleep at least.

any advice please? I’m on my knees exhausted I keep crying randomly when I go to baby groups and people say their babies sleep through I feel like such a failure he wakesnso much after 12am I don’t know what to do
