Can I improve our sleep?

My one year old wakes very early 4:30 to 5:30 early.
He has recently started nursery and he is so hypa in the evenings i have been letting him stay up later. He isn't going to bed now until 8or 9 instead of 7 but he is still waking early.
Is he getting enough sleep or should I keep putting him to bed early even though he doesn't want to sleep yet?

Do you have a blackout blind in his room ?

I know it seems counterintuitive but I an earlier bedtime would help I think. My son wakes around the same time each morning regardless of what time he goes to bed. Does he nap at nursery? Maybe having a cut off for afternoon naps would help.

We have pretty good blinds but they aren't completely black out. It is a good thought though he didn't wake so early in the winter but then he used to be awake for a chunk in the night instead 😅

When you say he's hyper after nursery - is he doing a full day? Is he napping ok there? Sounds like actually he's overtired, and I'd probably start putting him down earlier.

He naps pretty well at nursery. He does about 40min in the morning and an hour and a half in the afternoon. He would usually do two hours in the afternoon and 1 in the morning at home so it it is a little less. They usually do a nap cut off at 3:30 but he is usually awake by 3 anyway.
Is this enough day sleep or too much?
I would like to keep my evening and put him to bed earlier but he cries a lot when I have tried and I have given up

Yes he is hypa after nursery but I thought that was because he hasn't seen us all day and isn't used to it yet. He is going from 8am to 5pm so it is a long day

That's a long day for a 1 year old. I would work to establish a routine where he comes home, has something to eat, bath, milk and bed by 7/7.30.

My lo is older then yours. I do nap cut off at 330pm. She doesn't go bed till 8pm 🤷🏼‍♀️ sometimes later.

How about a supper adding? My lo has dry cereal about 7pm ish. What time do you do dinner? Then I do bottle about 745pm ish.

Agree with blackout blinds, my whole upstairs is pitch black as the sun illuminates everything in our house. We do blackouts on every window upstairs.

Another thing maybe their shifting to one nap....? And need to cut the morning nap down a bit?

I did find when my lo started nursery she took a while to settle down and sleep was a bit disruptive for a while.

Hyperness is often a sign of being overtired in children.
